In Egypt married women don't need their husband's permission to travel
En: Married women no longer legally require permission from their husbands to travel. Unmarried women under the age of 21 must have permission from their fathers to obtain passports and travel.
In November 2000, Egyptian women were granted the right to travel without the permission of their husbands.The draft Law No. 1 of 2000 included an article that allowed women the right to travel without their husbands’ permission but this article was later removed by the legislative committee as a concession to the opponents of the law. After the enactment of the law, the case was brought in front of the High Supreme Court which ruled that it was unconstitutional to restrict a citizen’s right to travel regardless of their sex and marital status.
Ro: Femeile căsătorite nu mai necesită, în mod legal, permisiunea de la soții lor pentru a calatori. Femeile necasatorite, sub 21 de ani, trebuie sa aiba permisiunea de la părinții lor (in special a tatalui) pentru a obține pașapoarte și pentru a călători.
In noiembrie 2000, femeilor Egiptene li s-a dat dreptul sa calatoreasca fara permisiunea sotului. Inainte de a fi promulgata, Legea nr.1 pe anul 2000 continea un articol care permitea femeilor sa calatoreasca fara aprobarea sotilor, dar acest articol a fost scos din lege de comitetul legislativ ca o concesie pentru adversarii legii. După intrarea în vigoare a legii, cazul a fost adus în fața Curții Constitutionale care a decis ca este neconstitutional sa limitezi dreptul unui cetatean de a calatori, indiferent de sex si de starea civila.
